Banana Date Shake

Warning: this milkshake will change your life.
Well, maybe not change your life per se.
But it will definitely improve your quality of life significantly.
This brainchild came to me today when I set about making green smoothies for me and the mama, but we had only enough greens for one. I graciously whipped her up a mango, banana, spinach and chia seed smoothie then set about making myself what is genuinely the best milkshake I have ever tasted.
Banana Date Shake
(Raw, vegan and soy-free)
Serves 1
- 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk (I used home-made, but store bought is fine)
- 1 frozen banana
- 3-4 medium dates, chopped
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp organic peanut butter
- 1 tbsp shelled hemp seeds or hemp protein powder (optional)
Add everything to a blender and blend until smooth. If you’re not using a high-speed blender then don’t worry about chopping the dates.
Sprinkle with cinnamon and enjoy ice-cold
Seriously, I defy you not to enjoy it.
This combination is so unbelievably creamy, rich and downright decadent. It will definitely inspire an “I can’t believe this is vegan” reaction from critics.
One thing’s for sure, this will be the first drink on the menu when I open up my restaurant some day.
Favourite milkshake flavour?
I used to be pretty partial to an oreo vanilla shake in my pre-vegan days, but this definitely trumps it.

I haven’t had a shake in forever! I guess my favorite as of now is vanilla, but I think peanut butter would be great!
I might just have to make this tomorrow! I love simple shakes with good spices – this fall the pumpkin spice green smoothie was my favorite.
Looks super delicious!
I love milkshakes and smoothies all year around!
I have some bananas and dates that need to be used up so this is perfect!
This sounds and looks amazing!
I love milkshakes and this one is bookedmarked for the future to try. My favorite vegan milkshake is a banana , peanut butter and dark chocolate almond milk.
Dates make anything taste amazing, such a delicious caramel flavour – this looks awesome
Dates and peanut butter are my two favorite things!

I just made this shake and it is to die for!! It will be a nice treat one in a while for sure. Only thing I did differently was I used a scoop of vanilla vegan protein powder instead of a tbsp of powder. I also used vanilla almond milk. Also, I used 3 dates…next time only 2! lol. SO YUMMY!!
